Share x facebook pinterest whatsapp Posted byby ElianaFebruary 4, 20261.6K reactions · 74 shares | Build your own compost bin using 75 reclaimed bricks. No concrete, no tools, no plastic needed! The size shown is perfect for small space gardeners, but it can easily be modified & made bigger to allow you to process more waste. 🧱 Start with 12 bricks laid flat to form a solid base- this helps with stability (but if you have a flat surface in your garden you can skip this step & leave it open to the earth to allow beneficial soil biology to have access to the contents). 🔄 Your first ring: 5 full bricks plus a half brick to close the loop 🔝 Keep stacking 5 full bricks per layer until you’re about 12 bricks high or adjust the height to suit your space Why it’s a game changer: ✅ Customisable size: make the base as wide or small as your space allows ✅ Renter friendly: no digging, drilling or permanent systems ✅ Modular: easily dismantle to turn your compost or move house ✅ Plastic free: made entirely from natural materials that breathe ✅ Aeration built in: gaps between bricks keep airflow up & smells down To get started: 1️⃣ Lay down a base layer of carbon such as sticks, woodchips (my fav) or dry brown leaves 2️⃣ Then add lasagne layers of food scraps & carbon rich materials like autumn leaves, shredded paper or wood chips 3️⃣ Keep it moist like a wrung out sponge. You’ll need to add extra water from time to time, especially in summer, because bricks are porous & can draw moisture out of your scraps, so moisture management & regular monitoring are essential This simple, sturdy & breathable design helps your compost stay aerobic, break down faster & nurture soil not landfill. But there are a few things to consider: ⚠️ Gaps between the bricks can allow rodents or small animals to access the pile ⚠️ Flies such as vinegar flies or even beneficial ones like black soldier flies may buzz in & out of the contents ⚠️ A wider diameter makes the bin more stable at lower heights, but if you build it too high without enough width, it could wobble or fall over 🎥 footage by @shev.irina – the original video showed this process to make a fire pit but I think it works well as a compost bin! 🤗 | The Compost Coach- Build Soil & Grow a Regenerative Garden | Facebook0 CommentsAPI Error: API Error: Invalid or expired API key. Share x facebook pinterest whatsapp Posted byby ElianaDecember 24, 2025304K views · 4.1K reactions | (IG)@cosyquirk upcycled this linen cupboard using Chalk Paint® in French Linen and Country Grey and kindly provided us with her complete step-by-step so you can find a similar piece of furniture and get the same rustic, charming, end result. Built-In Cabinet Makeover Part 1: Day 1: 1. Taped the glass panels on the cabinet doors 2. Spent a LONG time sanding the cabinet down. You can skip this step as there is no need to prep or prime with Chalk Paint! 3. Took the old knobs and handles off 4. Painted the entire cabinet (excluding the countertop portion) with Chalk Paint® in French Linen in 2-3 coats, Day 2: 1. Painted the center portion of the built-in cabinet using Chalk Paint® in Country Grey 2. Used a wicker sheet roll to place flat on the countertop and placed the glass panel on top of it (the glass panel was already perfectly precut to fit) 3. Cut the extra wicker off all sides so the glass panel settled down flatter 4. Added brand new handles and knobs with the same wicker finish for texture and a bit of “quirk” Part 2 will include the interiors of this built-in, some finishing touches, a sealing/finishing coat of Chalk Paint Lacquer, and of course some really fun styling!! Coming very soon! ♥️ #AnnieSloanChalkPaint #ChalkPaint #AnnieSloan #FrenchLinenChalkPaint #CountryGreyChalkPaint #DIYUpcycle #DIYFurniture #FurnitureMakeover | Annie Sloan US | Facebook0 CommentsAPI Error: API Error: Invalid or expired API key.
